There are a lot of items on our supply list. I highly recommend purchases things throughout the summer so you do not get slammed with it all in August.
*1 small plastic school box - used to hold crayons, scissors, pencils, erasers, and markers
*8-10 #2 lead pencils with erasers - I know kids love the "pretty" ones, but honestly the plain cheap brown ones work the best.
*2 rubber erasers
*1 pair of scissors
*1 box of 24 or 32 count crayons- regular sized, Crayola crayons do work best
*2 large boxes of tissues - lots of nose blowing and nose picking happens in 1st grade
*1 set of watercolor paints
*4 solid colored pocket folders with tabs on the inside - boring...I know, your kid wants the race car or Barbie "fancy folder", but honestly these plain, cheap folders work best for our unfinished work folder, math journals, reading journals, and lists books!
*1 1-inch binder - get ready for it...I'm super picky...it needs to be white, with plastic overlay, and 2 inside pockets. These are used for our take home communication binders.
*1 letter sized clipboard
*1 set of 8 large markers
*10 large glue sticks - We do LOTS of gluing in 1st grade!!!
*1 package of dry erase markers
*1 container of Clorox wipes - We try to wash down our desks daily...see nose blowing/nose picking...ugh!
*1 set of ear buds or headphones to use in the library (I do not keep track of these, they will be kept in your child's desk and are their responsibility.)
*BOYS - 1 package of paper plates
*GIRLS - 1 box of Ziploc bags
*1 package of snacks: pretzels, crackers, cookies - This will get us started until I get the snack schedule started.
NO PENCIL SHARPENERS!!! First graders get pencil shavings everywhere and we have 2 awesome electric sharpeners! Keep these at home!
If you feel like you have not bought enough supplies...here are some items we are always in need of for our classroom...
*cardstock - any color- white, manila, colored
*sharpies
*post it notes - we use these on our interactive charts
*liquid glue - I do not like liquid glue for 1st graders, but we do use it SOME!
*glitter - Everything is prettier with glitter on it!
*popsicle sticks
*highlighters
*any craft supplies
*brown paper baggies
*germ x
I also have a treasure box in my classroom. I am also looking for small little prizes to stick in it. If you have any little trinkets at home you want to get rid of...send them my way!
