First Day Jitters
First Day Jitters is one of my most favorite back to school stories! If you have not read this sweet story I really encourage you to check it out and read it with your child. The story begins with a person who will not get out of bed for school. This girl is scared to begin school, she says people won't like her, she won't have any friends. The ironic twist in the story is learned on the last page when we find out the scared girl is actually the TEACHER! The kids always get a kick out of knowing that even I get the same first day jitters.
We brainstorm and share on post - it notes how we felt on the first day. We then decorated our classroom door with a representation of ourself in bed and we wrote to explain what we felt on that first day of school.
